Computer confusion

Hi I have a bit of a computer trouble. I recently did a quick scan because everything was slow and laggy and found 4 trojens attached to avast files. When I removed the trojen I must have accidentally removed avast files. So the computer started reading that I didn’t have anti-virus, I went to the uninstall programs, and repaired it.
However even though I was able to get avast back to normal my computer is still saying I don’t have anti-virus software and it doesn’t appear to be a fake message. So I did one full scan last night, then a reboot scan, then one last sweep with windows defender which I had to turn back on along with fixing avast, all I found were a few corrupted files which I deleted. So I’m having trouble understanding what it is I need to do to get things back to normal. Any ideas? Much appreciated.

hi Roark,

Best bet for you here is to run four programs and submit the resulting logs for analysis by a certified malware expert.

All help here is free, and motto here is ‘Do no harm to a victim’s computer’.

You can get the four programs here: AdwCleaner, Malwarebytes, OTL, and aswMBR. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

Whilst under the care of a malware specialist, do not make any changes or fixes to your system unless instructed to do so. Doing it this way will keep both of you on the same page, and you will proceed through the cleansing/repair process with fewer problems than otherwise.

Attach resulting logs in your next reply. A malware expert will be notified to assist you when you post your logs. Your malware expert will assist you with any issues you may have.

But I heard it was a bad idea to have more then one antivirus program on a computer.

Roark it is safe to run the programs listed there by mchain, they are also not Anti-virus programs but necessary tools that need to be run to collect the logs for one of the Malware guys to look over for you.

and the removal expert will remove all the tools when he is done

was it SuperAntiSpyware you scanned with ?

Ya it was superantispyware that found the trojens. Is it not actual anti spyware software?

Please follow mcchain’s advice in reply number 1.
One of our malware experts will be notified.

There is no need for you to start another thread as another thread could cause problems. Stay on this thread.
Please be patient. They will come to this thread. Honest.

If the OP is running both AIS and SAS in real-time that could quite easily create a conflict.
I found out the hard way. I now use the free version of SAS.

you can turn off realtime monitoring in SAS pro then you still have auto update ;) anyway this was a False Positive issue
