You can consider this thread a sort of placeholder for now until I can provide a full set of logs. The computer is my mother’s and scanning the hard drive takes a lot more time than my own computer. Log are just a ways down the page.
I try my best to keep all the family’s machines safe but it seems I forgot to tell ABP to block ‘non-intrusive’ advertising on her computer, so she ended up clicking a fake facebook link in google search (thanks a bunch, google). It led her to a page with the claim that if it was closed it would wipe her hard-drive, typical scam stuff, whether or not it actually infected the computer has yet to be seen. Didn’t notice anything that stands out when I was looking at it but I’d rather take these things seriously.
Initial smart scan caught nothing, running a system scan and will go through the process of grabbing logs in a bit.
Here’s some link scans, Virustotal seems to not even be working, zscaler scan says it’s benign (yeah sure, it’s just a prank, bro), securi returned an error:

I’ve told everyone in my family over and over to never ever use facebook AT ALL but it seems that even basic rules just cannot be followed. Not that there’s any way to avoid it, with every small business in existence using it and facebook making it almost impossible to read their pages without an account. Using the web is such hot garbage these days.
