What does this setting actually do? I have turned this on for the last week, and have noticed no changes for the good or bad. I was not having any problems at all with updates, but I just wanted to see what checking this feature did. My machine is a lap top that when on, is always connected to the internet…No problems, just curious!
It just confirms what your connection method is so as avast isn’t checking against two possibilities dial-up or broadband.
On this screen, you can also specify the type of internet connection that you use i.e. whether you connect to the internet using a dial-up modem or whether your computer is permanently connected to the internet. This will optimize the way that avast! checks for new updates and make the update process more reliable.
Ok thanks! I’ll leave it checked then as I’m on DSL.
No problem.
