computer novice

I have been using a computer for years and use avast as my antivirus program. If I have a problem (I had a virus on my computer) and go into forums, I don’t comprehend the information and language. I am using a friend’s computer now while I am doing a boot scan (I first did a full scan which showed 18 infected files).

How can I educate myself so I can understand computer lingo, especially virus issues? Do you have an internet site or book you can recommend?

Thanks,
Karen

If you have been infected i also recomend scaning with Malwarebytes Antimalware

UPDATE and run quick scan, click the button “REMOVE SELECTED” to quarantine anything found and restart

For general use stuff these are fairly good.

Mine is well worn as I got it back in '05 and the best $35 I spent.
