this is so annoying, we have conficker on our network, i go into the admin console and see all pc’s have a red status. i connect to the virus chest and delete the infected files, the PC still stays red so i just mark as clean. Then if i open up avast locally on my pc it does the memory test and before it reaches the end it says its found an infection system32\confi blar blar but i literally two minutes ago just deleted the virus!!! so not only does Avast not protect us from the conficker virus, but it seems its also unable to remove it!!! what are we supposed to do now becuase the only option i see is go to another anti virus provider. Also about ten minutes later the PC i marked as clean is infected again and back to stage one, now this is happening on about 100 PC’s and avast is really winding me up looool. rant over. help anyone??
Can you please follow the instructions here :
http://www.bdtools.net/how-to-remove-downadup.php
First set of instructions is for home users, ignore if it doesn’t apply. The second one is for network admins which is what you want. Please read those instructions and continue the removal.
I had used the home user version on a home pc for removal. I haven’t used the network admin removal tool. Worth trying though.
Also,
Are all the pcs on the network up-to-date with latest updates of all softwares including OS?
thank you, will give that link a try. and yes all windows updates done, virus update done, we have a couple of xp mahcines dotted around and they have had the microsoft conficker patch installed. what confuses me about this is i thought conficker was unable to infect windows 7 machines? so it looks as though this is some sort of new version, this all started happening on the 17th january.
It also infects windows 7 if not patched. See the results on google : http://goo.gl/gJeA2

May be. If you want the latest on conficker, please browse here : http://www.confickerworkinggroup.org/wiki/ ← so many resources are available.

For home computers, not for computers on networks.
but…if you disconnect from the network and clean one by one …but i guess that is no fun when you have 100 computers ;D
