Conflict Messages Concerning Version and Definition Updates

I hope this is the proper forum for my troubles. I have a log-in problem every time I seek support stating I need to register which I have already done properly or I would not be this far. I have Avast Internet Security Version 7 I believe, a two year license paid up. One screen says I need to update and another states it is already updated. What am I supposed to do to ensure all updates are accurate? I tried to contact an Administrator but was not allowed. Could I please receive some help from Avast, an Administrator or someone knowledgeable. Try a repair of avast:
XP - Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and select Repair, click next and follow.

Vista, win7 - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Uninstall/Change and select Repair, click next and follow.

You may need to reboot after the repair.

This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual VPS version.
