Conflict with AT&T Yahoo Online Protection?

I just switched ISPs and upgraded from a dial-up connection to DSL via my local phone company (AT&T). I recently received an email from them advertising their AT&T Yahoo! Online Protection security suite. It doesn’t say in that email whether or not it’s free (although based on other sources I suspect that it probably is). My question here is whether or not there would be a conflict with Avast! if I were to add the AT&T Yahoo Online Protection. From AT&T Yahoo’s own user forums I’ve noticed threads asking about possible conflicts with both Norton Antivirus & McAfee, but nothing there about Avast.

Since avast! and AT&T’s Security Suite are both resident AVs the combination of the two would be risky. Better to just stay with avast!.

I think I will do just that (better to stick with what one knows, too). Thanks!

Having two resident scanners installed is not recommended as rather than provide twice the protection it can cause conflicts that could leave you more vulnerable.

Best to stick with what you know, you may not what is under the hood so to speak of the AT&T Yahoo badged on-line protection.
