Confused about the latest program update

I’m running Avast! Free on two computers and today I noticed on one of my computers there was an exclamation mark over the Avast! system tray icon and when clicking the icon I was told there’s a new program version available and also it warned me about having Silent Mode activated.

Since I know I have silent mode activated and want to keep it that way I didn’t press the ‘Resolve All’ button but instead went over to Settings-Update and looking under the Program section I found my current version to be 2014.9.0.2013 and the new recommended version to be 2014.9.0.2016. However when I press the ‘Update’ button nothing happens and this is true for both my computers so how do I install this latest program update when the ‘Update’ button does nothing?

Also I’m a bit puzzled why only one of my computer alerted me a new program version is available where the other computer claimed ‘Everything is good’ with a green check mark although a new program version is available?

There is a bug where silent mode will prevent Avast from updating, so deselect that for now and update Avast

Also the programme updates are spread over a period to ease the workload on the servers

Thanks for your quick reply and confirmation of this bug.

Temporarily disabled the silent mode and was able to perform the update.

Avast are aware of the bug and are working on a fix, unless it has already been released

Sounds great, thanks for the heads-up!

Just noticed this bug is still present.

No big issue though now that I know how to fix it.
