confusing update alert

A few minutes ago at 2:29pm, I got a pop up message saying that the last attempt to update was unsuccessful.
I checked the update information and it says that it has the current version 140330-0, release date 30/03/2014, 2:13 am, connection established, latest update 30/01/2014, 2:26pm.

I have been getting this alert occasionally.

I use Avast Free on XP and have dialup internet. I have update set for automatic and streaming enabled.

Please clarify if there is a problem.

On dial-up, there is a possibility that an auto update check could be in progress when you disconnect. This would I believe result in the last attempt to update was unsuccessful error.

Thanks for the information.

This did not occur when I disconnected. I was still connected at the time of the alert.
