1.high rates of detection improved 
2.few false positives new. ;D
and avast was the fastest antivirus in scanning 8)
the f*** kaspersky and eset come behind avast{(f***=full)because the avast free has the same engine and will get the same results }

Yep, ALWIL certanly surprised me. Especially in the scan speed performance and false positives. I kinda expected ADVANCED+ for detection itself.

I don’t really believe in test - sites like this, because most of them are corrupt, and even they seems like they aren’t you can never know… But I can say that avast! is fare the best antivirus I’ve ever used, and I’m not a user like nod addict and haven’t seen anything else. I’ve tried out kaspersky, eset, f-secure, zonealarm, mcafee, gdata, avira and so on, but I haven’t seen such a fast and efficient engine like avast’s. And surely I’m awaiting of avast! 5, that’s about to be even better.
I agree, you can’t always trust what you read, and like you marc9401 I have also tried my share of antivirus and came to the same conclusion. Avast just seems to work! It’s fast and does a great job! It’s certainly the one for me and the new version is just around the corner (Can’t wait!).

This is one of the few comparison sites that I do consider of worth, but it should never be taken at face value (more so for less comprehensive transparent reviews/tests). Many of these test sites don’t test the full protection available only the on-demand scan function.
I have over five years of using avast and have watched it progress up the ladder when compared with its peers and one of the unsung heroes is the avast Web Shield protection, given the number of hacked sites now and none of this gets tested by the comparison sites. Then you have the Network Shield which protects against known malicious sites which also doesn’t get tested.
So practical experience is one of the most important things and does the AV meet your needs.
If you were your Moms administrator from three states away this would be no surprise and would bet money that the previous results saying anything different were paid for…the REAL is taking over the world. ARRRG!!!
