Constant firewall questions interfering with everything I do

I’m just browsing Netflix on my laptop and every few seconds I’m getting a firewall question popup. It is seriously interfering with everything I do. This is a brand new, high-end gaming laptop and its running like a 10 year old machine full of viruses.

Please note that I have tried to follow the instructions previously given to stop popups from interfering, but it isn’t working, and clearly Avast is NOT remembering my answers.

Getting pretty tired of this.

What questions?
Posting a screenshot would help

Is the Firewall set To Private or Public ?

If public you are likely to get more popups, but as has been mentioned a screenshot would help.

I just got one for this page!

It’s asking me if I should allow access to the web page I’m going to and not remembering my responses.

In response to your question, the Firewall is set to Private. Has been since I installed Avast.

None of us can see what is on your screen, so we can’t hazard a guess as to why it might be happening, this is why I asked for a screenshot of the message or alert window. For it to be for the Avast forum is even stranger and more reason for the screenshot.

Being set to Private should reduce the number of firewall notifications, so it doesn’t appear to be firewall related, the above is even more relevant.

I’m accessing Spotify.

The Avast pop-up says, “Spotify is trying to access connections to the Internet.”

I allow it.

Then the same pop-up appears again. And again and again. Four times. It doesn’t remember my response, and it does this EVERY time I open Spotify.

I’m sorry, but I have yet to be able to take and post a screenshot.

So what do you have checked in your firewall settings that I don’t?

For screenshots one method:
https://support.avast.com/en-gb/article/Create-screenshot

Then use “Attachments and other options” link under the Post reply text box to add screenshot to your post.

Most likely he has switched " Auto-decide " to " Ask ".

When you are new to the Firewall stay with " Auto-decide " and check " Show notification about … " so both the Firewall and you have time to learn about ( new ) Firewall rules.
And when everything has settled down, you can swith to " Ask " if you want more control.

Btw also check " Enable automatic port scan detection ", which should be the default setting imo.
