Constant threat found over and over

Last day or so I’ve been getting this constant blocked threat from this url:

hxxp://us-e-node7.smartyads.com/?t=s&winbid=0.26&k=d403c50bc838289ab672fc0d1e3df445

I ran it through google and virustotal.com and can’t find anything on it. Right now it’s just the popup from Avast that’s annoying as it interrupts everything but I’m glad it’s working.

Break the link so that no-one can click on it.
We do not want people to visit malicious websites.

For further help follow the instructions :
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

Alright I think I did it correctly, here are my logs.

Well, you almost did it correct.
You did indeed break the link, thanks for that.

But 2 log files are missing.
Both from Farbar (FRST.txt and Addition.txt).
So please create them and attach them also.

Apologies for my ignorance :frowning:

Here those logs are.

Ignorance?
I didn’t noticed it

Now have some patience, one of the malware removers will soon have a look at the log files.
Most are in Europe and it is 05:00 a.t.m.
So let them wake up, have breakfast and such first before they try to help you

Alright, thanks Eddy.

Does this occur in just chrome or all browsers

CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73555776/FRSTfix.JPG

Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

THEN

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

[*]Close all open programs and internet browsers.
[*]Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
[*]Click on Scan.
[*]After the scan is complete click on “Clean”
[*]Confirm each time with Ok.
[*]Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
[*]Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
[*]You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S0].txt as well.

Alright here are those logs hopefully I did it all correctly so far all seems to be in the right direction.

Any further problems ?

Nope everything is good so far. The only problem I’ve had is playing Magic Duels through Steam and now it wants to show a popup for the campaign which I’ve previously completed lol. But no, no hardware problems, no popups about blocking anything with Avast! etc…

Seems to run a bit faster and smoother as well and I’m thankful for that in addition to everything else. Thanks a lot to you guys for helping me out, it’s greatly appreciated.

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Remove tools

Download and run Delfix
Select the options as shown

: Keep Java Updated :

WARNING: Java is the #1 exploited program at this time. The Department of Homeland Security recommends that computer users disable Java
See this article

I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.
In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)

If you do need to keep Java then download JavaRa
Run the programme and select Remove Java Runtime. Uninstall all versions of Java present
Once done then run it again and select Update Java runtime > Download and install Latest version

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73555776/javara.JPG

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

CryptoPrevent install this programme to lock down and prevent crypto ransome ware

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73555776/CryptoPrevent.JPG

Malwarebytes

Update and run weekly to keep your system clean

Unchecky

Click on the link above to be taken to Unchecky.com
click the very large Download button.
click Save
Click Open folder
Right click on the Unchecky_setup and choose to Run as Administrator
Once open click the Install button.
Then click on Finish
Unchecky is now installed and will help you keep unwanted check boxes unchecked, this is a fire and forget programme

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

I ran the Delfix.

I’m not sure I need Java at all anymore. I’m willing to see if uninstalling it works. I honestly can’t remember the last program I ran that I know used it other than Minecraft.

Is there any special way of doing the removal or just add/remove programs and uninstalling java and its’ updates is enough?

Use Javara as that will remove all Java versions in one go

Alright I removed it without reinstalling it at all. I’ll post back here if I have any trouble within 24 hours.

I’m not sure if this is related or not but now occasionally sites like reddit don’t load in chrome. I keep getting ERR_SPDY_PROTOCOL_ERROR

Try this http://techdows.com/2015/08/fix-chromes-err_spdy_protocol_error.html
