Continual blockage of DNS item

I receive a blocked message from AVAST many times a day. The note/item is DNS://codematrixglobal.com. It is appreciated that AVAST blocks this, but I receive it very frequently. Is there a way to get to the source and stop it for good?

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.

Are you intentionally trying to connect to this site ?

I have just tried and it brings up the Avast Alert - see image below.

Firefox also has a whinge as it isn’t a secure connection - I have Firefox to decline non HTTPS connections.

You could try to report as a possible False Positive, but given it is connecting via DNS not HTTP or HTTPS and I wonder if you are actually trying to connect to the site. I’m also unsure why svchost.exe is involved.

Thank you for your response. No. I am not trying to connect to the site. It is there when I first turn on the computer and reappears frequently during the day.

You’re welcome.
Generally the problem with svchost.exe file is it’s used for windows legit traffic, updates, etc. but it can also be used by malware to make it appear like a legit connection.

Why this would be used for the connection makes it look suspect right from the start.

I did a search on the domain name and this comes up.

Unveiling the Best ERP Software for Small Business in 2025: Your Comprehensive Guide · Unlock Your Future: How to Learn Web Development for Free in 2025.

Does this ring any bells with software you may have installed ?

I assume you have run a virus scan with Avast on your system (if not do so) ?

If nothing is found, you could try running an anti-malware program (one that doesn’t have to be installed or it could conflict with Avast). MBAM comes to mind Malware-Bytes-Anti-Malware, the free version can be run without installation, see Free Virus Scanner 2025 | Online Virus Scan | Free and Easy

Note I haven’t used this in many, many years, so I have no current experience of the product, but you should be able to run it without installation.

No, the “Best ERP Software” does not ring a bell. Yes,I have run scans thru AVAST. Seems the problem is not in my computer, just some one trying to get in. When an attempt is made to access the sender, A message is received that it is not a legal/usable address.

My interpretation is somewhat different, something is using the system file svchost.exe to make the connection, which make me think something may already be there misusing svchost.exe to connect to the site and using a dns connection rather than a conventional http or https. As is more likely if it was something like an App or cookies, etc. on your browser

So I would definitely go for a secondary scan of your system for confirmation, if nothing else.

May have found a solution. Somewhere in my searches, an app called “Screen Connect.Client Services.EXE” was mentioned. That app was indeed on my computer so I deleted it. Have not seen the alert re code matrix in several hours. Amazing (to me) how many apps are on my computer that I did not knowingly download.

Thanks for the clarification.
Hopefully that was the culprit.
