Hi, I was given a Logitech cordless mouse and keyboard as a present about a month ago and today the batteries in the mouse just died. I fitted new batteries and the mouse is working fine again. My query is, I noticed that the red mouse laser light is still active even after my Pc is switched off. Is this the norm, as there isn’t any switch on to mouse to turn it off, or is there some Pc setting I can use to turn off the mouse when my machine is off. Thanks
Doesn’t the mouse have a turn on/off button?
It will start sleeping after a couple of minutes when you leave it alone, the two i have work like that
I think it’s normal.
My mouse’s light is always on.
Maybe it goes out when the mouse is still.
I try and pick the mouse up real slow sometimes just to see, but the light is always on.
Sneaky bugger.
Sneaky bugger.;D you could try leave it on top of a glass and see 8)
Thanks for the quick replies guys. No off/on switch Tech. Never thought of it ’ sleeping ’ pondus. Not sure if sitting it on glass would work. Would that no be the same as when you hold it above the desktop ?
Edited to add. The initial batteries were some non- rechargeable Chinese make and I have no idea how old they were. What are members experiences as to the duration of batteries in cordless Mice in general ?
Would that no be the same as when you hold it above the desktop ?Well yes if you want to hold it for 5min ::) or you could just turn it upside down and see :D
Holding it still for long enough would be very difficult, you could place it above any transparent raised object, plastic container, etc. come back every now and then and see if it sleeps.
I have had the batteries in mine (2xAA) for a little over 7 months, in the last couple of months I have taken to switching it off at night when the system is also switched off. It is a Trust Wireless Laser Mouse Carbon Edition and I like it better than most that I have had in the past.
The top option can’t be activated
Oops, double attachment
Isn’t it related to Bluetooth settings and rights? ???
As far as I know, in this situation (from screenshot) windows won’t kill your wireless mouse for sleep ;D if mouse itself does not have sleep function, it will work all the time, my logitech optical mouse from EX100 wireless desktop set does not have sleep function.
Also I have Logitech V470 Bluetooth laser mouse. It has only on/off button, no sleep function indeed, but it’s laser - it works hell long, compared with ex100 optical mouse.
Thanks for the reply YLAP. How long does the batteries last in your EX100 mouse without sleep function ? My mouse is a a Logitech RX650, for your information
How do I check these settings Tech ??
Hell knows ;D Never looked to the clock ;D Maybe about one month, I don’t think it last longer. Bluetooth laser V470 works 5-6 months for me.
My big mouth… now I have to find… wait…
That’s correct.
The mouse knows when it’s being watched, and doesn’t turn off.
Far too sneaky.
;D ;D ;D
Seems related to the mouse itself: “and you can save energy at the same time with the standby and sleep modes” “The unique super energy saving mode” (http://computers.pricegrabber.com/mice-trackballs/HP-Hewlett-Packard-HP-BLUETOOTH-LASER-MOUSE/m96793460.html and http://www.made-in-china.com/showroom/torich168/product-detailObqnpFNCQYcB/China-Bluetooth-Mouse-PA-BTM02-.html).
My Windows in Portuguese…
Control Panel > Energy options > … go as deeper as you can
You could see “wireless devices energy” options… maybe…
Batteries wear out faster when you have no replacements.
Just when you are about to click Post to a long reply that you have just composed the batteries die.
I don’t like cordless Mice nor keyboards as they choose to die at the most inopportune time.
Have you heard of Murphy’s Law?
