Corrupt files detected?

Several times when i have run Avast scan it has detected hidden files which it identifies as corrupt. I am not sure what this means and whether i should do anything with them or just leave them alone. As i mentioned they are small hidden files some of which are not even showing.

Below is the report today from a boot scan with Avast:

02/18/2008 13:26
Scan of all local drives
File C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\K9ADYP4R\BIN_STDATA[1].CAB\BIN_STDATA.SPT Error 42127 {CAB archive is corrupted.}
File C:\Program Files\ZSoft\Uninstaller\backup\1200833679\30.zubak\update\langspecific\nor\updspapi.dll Error 42127 {CAB archive is corrupted.}

Number of searched folders: 1628
Number of tested files: 241330
Number of infected files: 0

What can people advise me on this?

Thanks for the help.

Any ideas on this issue?

Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned. Could be due to archive packing problems or avast wasn’t able to unpack them. Don’t worry :wink:

Maybe you can clean your Internet temporary files.

Thanks for the kind reply.

So when Avast can’t scan files it calls them corrupt, but does this mean the files may still be good files ie not damaged.

You can change this into avast Report settings, letting only the ‘infected’ files to be reported.
