corrupted system

I hope someone can help as I am about to become a non computer user. Somewhere and somehow my windows 7 system has become infected. Avast will run a scan and find several “corrupted files” but will not let me do anything with them. Several other observations;

When I open a file that has not been used since corruption it works fine. However, if I close the file and then try to open again nothing.

When I tried to open restore, it stated that no restore points have been created.

Cannot save or download anything. If I try, the file has a problem and must be shutdown.

corrupted is not infected

can you post the scan log, or a screenshot of any avast message ?

check your computer for malware with

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.50.1 http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
always update the program so you have latest database before you scan
click the remove selected button to quarantine any infections found
you may post the scan og here

Thank you for your prompt reply. However, malware found no problems. Whatever is on my system will not allow any downloads or saves. This means I cannot update. The only thing that was found in any scan was that:

AVAST could not scan the following files because they were corrupted. It then listed approximately six or seven files. But gave no action. Therefore it would not allow them to be moved to the chest. Neither can I delete the files from windows explorer nor can I uninstall the files from the control panel.

Spybot wouldn’t run
Maleware found no problems.
Comodo found no problems
Ad-aware would not run.
Microsoft Security Essentials found no problems.
Spyware Blaster found no problems.
Threatfire found no problems.

I do not know if it is spyware, virus, worm, or something else. The computer just doesn’t work.

are you having all these installed at the same time ?

Corrupted does not mean they are infected, so it will not move corrupted/damaged files to the chest

having multiple AV installed can/will create all kind of mysterious windows errors and false positive detections
.
and you have listed
comodo AV
Microsoft Security Essentials
Ad-Aware have the Ikarus AV engine
and then avast ?

Never install two antivirus (see reply from quietman7)

Download DDS and save it to your Desktop from here:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr

Double click dds.scr to run the tool.

* When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
     1. DDS.txt
     2. Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. Post DDS.txt back to topic.
