Corrupted zip file

Hi.

I hope you are all well, I really love this forum as there are a lot of helpful people who have helped me with avast so thanks guys.

I hope you can help me again please. the other day I did a boot time scan and the scan got to 92% complete and then it said that there was a corrupted zip file and it did not give me any options to work with, the only way I could get round it was to bypass the scan then delete the zip file and scan again.
When I scanned again it found nothing.

Why would it not give me options eg move to chest, delete or repair?

I see that when I go to scan and scan settings, I cannot change any of the Settings as how I would like to set them to do a full system scan as this is a read only window.
When did this become a read only window? I ask this because the previous free version of avast which was 5.0.545 I could go into scan settings and set the scan settings as I wanted to make sure I had maximum protection against viruses and spyware…

 happy avast user:)

Because there is nothing wrong with it, it is just notifying you of files that it couldn’t scan and why.

  • Corrupted Archive file, this could simply mean that avast is unable to unpack it to scan the contents of the archive and assuming it is because it is corrupt. Even if it were corrupt there is nothing that a user can do to resolve any corruption, short of replacing the file. This I wouldn’t recommend (especially if this is for archives in the \System Volume Information folder, part of the system restore function) unless you are getting problems relating to that file outside of the avast scan.

Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.
