Could you help us with easy download speed test?

Hi all,

we are searching for testers who would helps us with easy download speed test of avast! Free Antivirus from different download sources. That’s why we prepared following set of instructions to do it:

  1. Please choose one of the text file attached according to your language region. If you're in US, Mexico, Brazil choose EN,MX,BR version, if you're from Spain choose ES,NL version etc.

  2. Please click to the link below and download DownTester software.
    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/downtester.zip

  3. Unzip the file in „downtester“ folder and click on „DownTester“ application icon. You don’t have to install it.
    IMPORTANT: On navigation bar you have to go to Options → Advanced Options and change Connecting Timeout to 120 seconds. Program is set to 20 seconds only by default.

  4. Then please click on File → Add URLs From File on navigation bar

  5. Choose the attached text file and confirm

  6. Then click on green flash to start download and wait until the test is over and all records have green light

  7. As last step please click on View → Text report-All Items and a text file appears. Please save it and send it to malina@avast.com or post it here also with your IP provider speed and geographical location.

Hi Malina & Hayc59,

Looks more like a correct download of Nirsoft Downtester, but wrong sites to be tested.

Hayc59: I said in Downloadtester “File > Add URLs List”, and copied sites from the files Malina provided.

Haaaa… according to insturctions, I should have said “File > add from file”, and select the appropriate file that I downloaded.
Instead, I opened the file and copied its contents, Opened Downtester and chose File > Add URLs List, then pasted copied content.

Seems I cannot even follow simple instructions. But it worked.
