CPU usage after boot issue

Avast Free Antivirus: v24.6
OS: Windows 10 v22H2

For about a few weeks now, for some reason, a short while after every OS startup, Avast Antivirus tends to use 10-15% of the processor for about half an hour.
I’m guessing it has something to do with the new version, this problem hasn’t occurred in the past.

This happens regardless if I…
…disable all shields.
…disable passive updates.
…disable automated scans.
…system is idle or running an application i.e. games

Fixes I’ve tried:

  • Disabling various passive processes as detailed above
  • Updating Avast.
  • Repairing Avast.
  • Uninstalling and reintalling Avast.

I wouldn’t mind CPU usage if it was doing something useful, but based on the above, it just seems to overheat my CPU for no reason, especially while I’m running CPU heavy applications.

Please advise and thank you in advance.
