Lately I’ve noticed that when I play YouTube videos in 4K quality the CPU consumption by AVAST jumps to more than 20%, and after a few seconds it drops approximately to 3%.
why is it happening?
When there are other processes in the background, because of these jumps sometimes the videos get stuck.
I have exactly the same issue except that Avast Service has always been extremely active since recent update, constantly consuming huge amount of CPU upto 50+% even with the slightest movement of mouse cursor while no other programs are actively running. The internet traffic also slows down significantly, opening any website almost become a chore. I tried opening only 1 Youtube video (it affects any video streaming at any resolution, not only 4K), and Avast Service immediately jumps to 30+% CPU while the Youtube on Chrome Browser only consumes 6+%. Now the fan is constantly whirring loudly due to excessive heat generated by high Avast CPU consumption. I tried to repair Avast and restarted laptop to no avail. I also tried to reduce all sensitivity to low at the Avast settings but this does not help too. I wrote to Avast twice via the official Help channel, and was promised that they would get back to me in 48 hours, but it has been more than 72 hours and I am still waiting. Very disappointed. I subscribed for the Avast premium account for less than 3 months, but now the laptop performance becomes so horribly affected. I have another laptop running a different security software but never experiences such issue. If Avast still does not get back as promised, I will be initiating a full refund.
It is a similar problem but regarding the use of the disk that nobody answered me, I continue with the 23.4.6062 of Avast and not if now it happens with YouTube
