Found a charge from Avast on my credit card this month, I do not have Avast and have never signed up to you.

Are you sure it is “Avast” ?
e.g. how would Avast know your credit card details to make the change.
A common problem might be if you ever had a Trial version of a paid version of Avast ?
To do so you would normally complete a payment mandate which would be activated at the end of the trial unless you cancelled the payment mandate.
Yes the card company traced it and are looking into it. I have never even had a trial. They have traced it to an email but will not give me the details as the email is not mine.
Very weird, almost seems like a scam, but then again it comes back to 'how did they get your details.
Tell the CC company that you believe this to be a possible scam/fraud (ask them how to get the transaction reversed/refunded), not your email, but they had your credit card details.
