ctrl key on keyboard not responsive

Hi, the ctrl key on my keyboard stopped working from one moment to another…

It’s an HP laptop with an HP driver installed, but when I go to the device manager and click on “driver details” it says: “driver furnished by: Avast”.

I found this article that also mentions unresponsive keyboards due to Avast interference:
https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/36/
However, the suggested solution doesn’t work for me… (the registry items I find do not correspond with the ones described in the article.)

Anybody has any ideas?

I’m not so much of a computer geek, so I don’t really have any clue how to solve this.

Working on Windows 7 64bit.

Thanks in advance!

The article you linked to is for an older version of Avast.

You could try doing a repair installation of Avast https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/204/

If that does not work you may need to do a clean installation of Avast https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/10/

If the issue still persists you may need to contact the Support team.
