Before I try to upgrade to Avast 5 Free, I would like to have a current copy of Avast 4.8 Free in the event I need to downgrade if problems occur. The one I have is named setupeng, date 03/15/2009, and is slightly over 30MB. I have gone to the Avast Web site to see if one is available but when I go to the 4.8 section I only see the 4.8 Pro version available. Does any know where I can get a current copy of Avast 4.8 Free?
The pro version without the pro key would expire after a trial period, entering a valid 4.8 Home registration key (whilst you are on-line) should revert/convert back to the Home version.
There are also sites like filehippo.com that retain previous versions of avast (and other programs).
Thanks for the info David. I did also look at filehippo and oldversion and could not find the 4.8 version on either site. I think I will download the Pro 4.8 version and use my 4.8 free key if necessary. Hopefully I won’t need to rollback to 4.8. Thanks again.
