custom settings & persist changes do not save

My third clean install finally got it done

changes persist now and settings saved :slight_smile:

The only question I have is what files are responsible for saving these changes?

I did a clean install of 4.6.652 on an old win95 system which meets the Avast min. requirements.

custom install with web, standard & Internet mail shields

going into on access protection control, I selected standard shield and customized to my liking, and ok’s out

  1. on restart, my above changes do not persist, and it reverts back to Normal settings.

  2. also I terminated web shield for now and persisted changes, and restarted. Same thing happened, my changes did not persist.

  3. If a solution to this problem can not be found, I would like to go back to the version which was working if that is possible - which was an upgrade of 4.1 to 4.5.

I have a copy of avast 4.1 if I install it can I somehow get back to the next to last version of 4.5?

what are the specific steps needed.

Systems were the settings are not saved should be carried this way:

  1. Make the changes.
  2. Stop all avast providers and exit (right click the ‘a’ blue icon and choose this option).
  3. Boot.

Problem is what is done before: shutdown or changes saving… Windows could ‘kill’ the program before it saves the changes.
