Daily Vista BSOD since update to version 6.0.1289

Greetings -

Ever since I updated my Avast program to version 6.0.1289 I have had daily crashes on my Vista. I have looked at the minidump files in WinDbg and the output is very consistent with each crash. I am not an expert on debugging programs, but it appears that the cause is either Avast, or another program that Avast is now conflicting with. My Windows programs are all up to date, and the crashes began immediately after updating to version 6.0.1289. No other software or hardware changes have occurred. Windows updates occur manually, not automatically. The one strange thing about these crashes is that they occur with every other reboot to my system (not every reboot). The crashes also occur within the first few minutes after the system is booted, usually before I have started any other applications.

I can provide 14 minidump files that have been created over the last two weeks since the update. I am looking for a solution that will prevent the blue screens from re-occuring. Thanks.

Please upload a few of the dumps, preferably packed together into an archive, to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming

Well, I think I posted the dump to the ftp site, but not sure. The filename is jboyce-VistaMinidump-092711.zip. I get a message in my FireFTP log that states “226 Transfer done (but failed to open directory)”, and I can not see the file in the /incoming directory. Is that normal that the transfer occurs, but I don’t have permission to see files in the directory?

Jeff

Yes Jeff, that’s normal.
