darkmoon trojan

I got some information at internet about the problem in my computer. It seems to be caused by dmserver.dll. Some sites refer it as darkmoon trojan. I can’t run avast because it stops for ages in the memory test at dmserver.dll. I am not sure if it is really atrojan. I scanned my computer at karpersky online and the report acused a dmseresI.dll on system32 which I deleted. Can I simply delete this dmserver of my computer or it is part of the system?
My system is window professional XP pack2 and I use avast home edition updated for years
Thanks for any help

I have exactly the same problem and it stops ad-aware and spybot also. Avast locks up during the memory scan of dmserver.dll

This dll should be the “Logical Disk Manager” for Windows NT family of OS’s which includes XP.

Please see the link below and make sure the version numbers are the same.

Did a boot scan and it removed the problem (dmserver.dll) it was a Trojan. This along with a restore file and a flashget update file. I had no other option but to remove it because it would not allow any other access to be done I have a “clean” downloaded dmserver file if I need it later.

A normal scan is now possible and I am picking up 1 or 2 other Trojans during the scan.

here is a likn to part of my problem as flashget was a vector.

I did the same as you and the computer is ok. I had a flash get but I deleted it because avast detected a trojan a few dyas ago. Humm maybe this trojan of dmserver comes with flash get. Do you are running the computer without this dll?

Yes, I had to delete it because it would not allow anything else to be done with it, but I have a “clean” dmserver.dll in a different file (just in-case I need it). My computer seems to be running fine since then, without the file being in the proper place.
