I used one of the links posted by oldman (earlier in this thread) to update my daughters old Win98se computer and my mother’s WinME monstrosity. The Win98 system updated almost smoothly, but mother’s computer–hard to say whether the problem is WinME, mother, or some unseen glitch left behind by the nearly-forgotten Norton.
I will be enjoying the added daylight at the end of the day now!
The links oldman posted are to “unofficial updates” for unsupported systems. It worked on the Win98 system, but a few programs would not run until I rebooted. It also worked on the WinME system, but followed by a crash when I tried to open a program. Come to think of it, the same thing happened when the time changed last fall. I would have changed both manually, but I thought a little adventure might be fun. ;D And, with any luck, they won’t try to change again in 3 weeks. :
