Decompression bombs

Hi, After a virus scan and sending some malware to the chest two files came up as not able to be scanned & that they were a decompression bomb

Can anyone advise if they should be viewed as a problem and if so how do I delete them as they will not delete.

Many thanks

Welcome mate.

Please read

- decompression bomb is just something that unpacks to an unusually big amount of data even though it’s rather small (i.e. has a high compression ratio, for example). It’s nothing to worry about, you are just informed that avast! will not try to unpack the archive (you may not even know that it’s an archive, but it seems like it is) because it may take VERY long to process.

Hi there I just did my first scan of my comp and got 8 files that couldn’t be scanned because they were decompression bombs… What does it mean? its C:\program files\western digital\my passport essential tools\v20090212_global_croNous.exe\disk1\data2.cab. Is there some way I can fix it? Is there a need to fix it? ??? :-\

Welcome SmurfBrat

Go back and read my previous post where I Quote about decompression bomb 8)

It looks like a cab-file from InstallShield-installer. This is no ordinary cab-files, so the usual archiver them not to open.
