Desktop blank after update new version

Hi, i’m using free version. After i update to new version and restart my XP pro, my desktop went blank. Nothing display in my desktop. I solved it be uninstall avast in safe mode and reinstall again. Anyone have others suggestion? This is my 2nd time face this kind of issue. Perhaps avast developer can do something.

  1. What version of Avast did you install? The current version is 7.0.1456.
  2. What other security software do you currently have or did you have in the past on this machine including:
  • Antivirus (AV)
  • Firewall (FW)
  • Trial versions of AV, FW and other security programs
  • Other security software

Having remnants on your machine can cause conflicts and lead to trouble. Sometimes we have people run the vendors uninstallers again and this fixes the problem.

  1. Did you use the Avast Uninstaller Tool: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility and remove ALL previous versions and products of Avast on this machine with a reboot in between? This would be a clean uninstall/install.
