Dial/Dialcar-D on the PC in my workplace

Hi to all!
I’m at office now and one my colleague have problems with her PC: the AV software here is Sophos (bleah! :P) and it found this virus only after I restarted this infected PC in Security Mode. The “definition name” is by Sophos: “Dial/Dialcar-D”.

Symptoms: yesterday no problems; today morning, pc started with mouse inactive. I rebooted with alt+canc+del using keyboard commands and scan with sophos. The AV reveals 2 malwares but only 1 is named: the other one is unknown. I think it’s strange… ???

Sophos have not deleted the infected files.

Now the PC is blocked.

Can you say me something?

Can’t he schedule a boot time scanning with avast and clean the computer?
Maybe if he follows the instructions on ‘Cleaning’ in my signature…

Tech,
thanks for your help.
We don’t have Avast! here, ‘cause I’m at work and is impossible for me install software because i have not Administrator access to our machines. :’(

PS: the OS don’t accept scheduled tasks… :frowning:

Can he boot in Safe Mode and run avast?
If not, can he use avast! for DOS (burning a CD)…

Good Idea, Tech…
now I try from my pc… thanks! (I searched with Google and Ixquick but I found only a link in German language concerning something about this Dial/DialCar-D… this language for me is like Arab, unfortunately!!!)

Ciao!

Try this link http://babelfish.altavista.com/ for a translation from German to Italian - bookmark it for future use.

Thanks also to DavidR

Please take a look at this: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=12211.msg103665#msg103665. I believe it may be useful in this situation

Many Thanks also to you.

The most strange thing in my opinion is:“How is possible that an AV like Sophos (company version!) can detect a virus without say what is it and which name it have?!?”… Sophos… :P… I say to my Director: “Use Avast! not other garbage-products”… but Avast! is almost invisible between Companies AV in Italy. Here the Company Products leaders are Symantec, Trend-Micro (honestly, is good), F-Secure and Sophos.
Other strange thing is that also with Copernic Pro and other MetaSearch engines, I found ONLY 1 link about this Dial/Dialcar-D.

Now I go to see your link…
