I have a set of files that all test positive on virustotal.com. Virustotal.com shows that avast (using the same update that I have on my just downloaded copy of avast free) sees a high risk virus (Win32:WrongInf-E [Susp]). Local scans using Avast test clean. Local copy is fully updated. It displays the same update revision number as the online version at virustotal. What gives? The file appears to be dirty yet local copy of Avast is not flaggingn it? Why is there a difference?
Virustotal is scanning with max settings, maybe you need to crank them up.
I of course checked this… the Avast free doesn’t have a lot of options… I have it set to do a deep scan of all files. Scanned locally no flags, scanned at virustotal, multiple flags… I looked for someplace to turn hueristics on.off didn’t see it. Are there differences between free and paid versions?
have you tested those files at VT again today?
can you post link to scan results here?
