disable antivirus macrium temporarily to backup pc

how to disable antivirus macrium temporarily to backup pc

Thanks

right click avast tray icon, in menu > manage shields > pause

There is no need to disable your anti-virus while you are backing up your PC.

Unless avast is creating problems, he dont say so we can only assume that is the case?

some googling give this

I never do, and on my three systems, XP Pro which uses Drive Image, Win7 32bit and Win10 64bit that use Windows Backup and no issues.

The only issue might be if there is some sort of setting file attributes (in avast folders), to use for incremental updating perhaps. But you should try running the backup with avast enabled first and see there is an issue.

Wow many thanks everyone for prompt, great comments!
Actually had no apparent problem backing up-just thought it better to have “clean” future backups.
BTW if I do disable assume best to disconnect my wifi?
Thanks again

Since your macrium backup is a snapshot of your drive, be aware that disabling your a/v will mean that the snapshot will also have that a/v setting.

So, when you need to restore that image with your a/v disabled, your a/v will be restored in a disabled state since you set it that way before you began your backup.

Not necessary to disable a/v unless issues with creating a disc image; if you are having issues, do you really want to back up a defective system anyway, or fix issues first?

Great point mchain.
Will definitely not disable now.

Thanks again everyone.

You’re welcome.
I can’t really see the occasion when I might disable avast for another program. If that program insists or it can’t run with my AV enabled than it is that program that would get the push.

I have never disabled my WiFi on those systems that use it win7 netbook and win10 laptop. I base that decision on the fact that my other protection is still enabled, Avast and also my Firewalls and I can’t see me ever doing that.

I use Macrium and I can backup without disabling Avast…
