Anyone else experience problems connecting to the internet with Avast running? I found an old thread that this was a problem from 6 years ago. Upon finding the problem, it mentioned turning off Web Shield in Core Protections. I turned off Web Shield and now I can access the internet on my browser again.
youve not mentioned if your on the free or paid so not sure if the updates are different.
paid 24.8 is my latest version so could need a manual update. menu-settings-update, run both to see if a later version available as even though i have mine ticked to auto update they havnt done that in years and i manually have to check.
I use the latest version of Avast Free (with its firewall) and Chrome (latest version) and I have no connection problems. Also as DNS at router and browser level I have set that of Cloudlare.
Turning of the Web Shield isn’t finding a solution, it is avoidance of the problem and at the same time leaves you vulnerable.
What is this error you are getting (screenshot possible better), are you getting any other browser or Avast notifications when you can’t connect ?
I use Avast Free, Firefox is my default browser of choice and Opera a secondary browser (I don’t use that very often) and no issues browsing with either with Avast and the Web Shield enabled.
Avast version: 24.7.6124 (build 24.7.9311.866)
No VPN
Windows 10
I use Google Chrome, Firefox and Edge as browsers
My laptop just randomly decided to stop connecting to the internet and gave me a DNS error. I was in the middle of working on something when it happened. Finally found this solution of turning off Web Shield on the free version that I use and it worked.
which version of avast are you running?
what firewall and have you a vpn installed.
what pc and operating system and which brouser you use.
the more info the better for those that know what they are talking about can advise further.
ive never had an issue connecting using avast premium except when my external vpn had a blip.
Suddenly i had no access to internet whatsoever. I lost more than 2 hours searching online through my mobile for potential solutions. I tried everything concerning router, cabling, flusing DNS from cmd, turning DNS settings to manual, etc. Nothing worked. But problem was solved when i finally deactivacted the “REAL SITE” option in AVAST.
This is quite serious and needs fixing asap.
Many users have already experienced this bug and it seems that AVAST has not yet provided a permanent solution !!!
I will make a refund claim, because in my opinion this needs a compensation. I have paid a subscription in order to have full access to all features. But if some of them need to be deactivated in order for me to able to do my daily job with no interruptions, then why should i pay the full package price ?
