Does it make sense to install the web extension when using Avast Free with web protection enabled?
In addition to having the searches marked as safe or unsafe and the tracker blocker (however limited compared to other ad blockers) does it make sense to install the extension to protect against malicious sites by already having web protection active? Or is it just a waste of PC resources?
It would be useful to have it if it completely replaced any ad blocker, completely blocking unwanted advertisements (even in YouTube) and much more tracking cookies.
You can’t compare it with other Ad Blockers as the Avast Online Security isn’t an Ad Blocker. There are more ad blocker browser extensions than you can shake a stick at, so I can’t see Avast stepping into that arena.
I used it a long time ago, but not any longer.
OK thanks. Yes, as an ad block I use uBlock Origin.
What about protection instead?
Is Avast Free web protection enough?
Contrary to the name Avast Online Security, I don’t feel that it is a security based extension, more a reputational extension. Or it would be giving physical alerts, but the web shield does that.
Ok thanks then uninstall it, Avast Free web protection is enough.
