Does anybody know how to remove transparency effect on Vista?

Does anybody know how to remove this particular transparency effect on Vista?
I mean, behind the icons on desktop, while selected, appears a rectangle…
Can you see?

Q é o q gostas do Vista?? hahaha

It’s not a matter of liking or disliking.
I just want the ability to configurate.
I love freedom at my computer 8)

And yet again, Vista doesn’t give us those options ::slight_smile: ;D I am afraid this can not be done, as soon as you select an icon, it will go into “selected” state which is this transparent frame in the background of the icon.

Why on earth would you even need to disable that!? ??? Whole point of Aero Glass is transparency. Just use Vista Basic theme if you don’t like transparency…

I think what he meant is just that transparent (not blurry) square around the icon… I also think that it’s present even if you have AERO disabled. This is nothing special, no AERO effects involved at all. Transparency is simple thing that is present even in Windows XP, it’s just not many developers found how to enable it. Even on MS site tutorial for developers can be found on how to use transparency.

It seems absolutely crazy if this can be done in XP without aero glass, I can set my desktop icons to transparent background without this huge rectangle and everything behind it is crystal clear. So much for advancement.

The only change is when an icon is selected the text of the icon is no longer transparent but everything else is.

Yes. I like transparency and use it. Just the transparent frame as Sasha said.

I’ll keep Sasha’s advice as definitive…
