Does avast home scan emails coming in and out of thunderbird? This annoys me a little.
Well, if you have enabled the Internet Mail Provider, then avast! will scan your mail ( if you have set properly your e-mail settings). It depends what OS you have, if you have NT based OS ( WinXP, WinNT…) then the mail scanning is transparent and you don’t need to set any settings, everything is set automatically. If you have older OS (like Win98, Win95…) then you have to use the Mail Protection Wizard to set all settings in the Internet Mail Provider. To see if avast! is scanning your e-mail, just open the Resident Provider settings window and check if Internet Mail Provider is counting, if the counter is to 0 , then your mail is not scanned. Why do you find scanning mail annoying? :
You should be happy that Avast scans your Thunderbird-mail ;D
why?
What do you mean? Of course it is a good thing that your antivirus-program scan your mail after virus…! I mean…do you want your computer infected with a virus that you get from a mail thru your mailprogram Thunderbird? I don’t want that, so I am so happy that Avast check my mail after virus.
If you are certain that all email is being throughly scanned by the mail service(s) you are using then perhaps you do not need to scan your mail.
E-mail is still probably one of the most used paths by which malware is introduced onto systems.
Prevention (keeping the bad stuff from every reaching your hard drive) by scanning the incoming sources is a whole lot better than trying to cure it after it has got into your system.
oh oh, no I meant, what does this imply: You should be happy that Avast scans your Thunderbird-mail Grin
Well…sorry for bad english but that is not my native language…but what I mean is that you should be happy/safe/calm when you know that your Avast-program is protecting you from virus
oh ok, Im sorry if I were insulting.
