^^ Because I never noticed anything different and I just found out about it’s rootkit scanner. PS I made a task for a manual scan on the enhanced interface.
The rootkit scan happens 8 minutes after boot on 32bit OS versions, I don’t know if it is the same on 64bit but I believe so. It doesn’t take very long a few seconds on my system and the only real way to check if it has run it to check the C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\report\aswBoot.txt using notepad, this is a summary of the scan.
The file is normally overwritten after each boot or running it from the EUI.
Sadly there is no aswboot.txt file in C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\report for me.
But there was no confirmation of this on the avast! Pro summary, like the bootscan which is unavailable on x64.
This is very odd because Alwil advertises “full” x64 support. Ah well. Its still a great product.
I hope that someone can confirm because this is a very good feature and with today’s games most people have above 4 gigs of ram. (I’m might actually buy a computer with 12 gigs of ram soon XD )
Aha! Avast DOES scan x64 on boot, you just gave me the wrong log file.
The file on my system is: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\aswAr.txt
Sorry, your right I gave you the summary file for the boot-time scan not the anti-rootkit scan which happens after boot, at least it put you on the right track (if not path) and confirms that it run under 64bit OSes.
