I have a system that has been hit bad… only thing I can see to do is wipe clean and start over… but I do not wish to do so… does anyone know of a DOS biased Virus,Trojan removal tool… this system is so bad that nothing in windows will open… system is win xp pro
hello
Well if you have avast! Pro installed on your computer you can use the command line scaner. The scanner work in dos mode.
You can also schedule a boot time scan from within avast!
Check out the avast site for avast for DOS, this may be of use. However, if your system is formatted to ntfs, normal dos tools wont be able to recognise ntfs, there is a version of ntfsdos a google search for ntfsdos should point you in the right direction.
I doubt there are many dos based tools for trojan removal, but again google is your friend.
You don’t say what you have tried so if you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it.
Um, there is no DOS in Windows XP as far as I know… ???
To X_M_A_S When booted into DOS what is the name of the exacutable?
If you have the avast Pro version, check out the avast help file ashCmd program section.
extract:
There are two modes of operation - you can work with ashCmd directly in the console (command line), or you can redirect its output to a file. This is done by the parameter "/_>", so e.g. "ashCmd.exe c:\windows /_> test.txt" will scan the folder C:\Windows and store the results to the test.txt file that will be created in the avast! installation directory.
But I doubt that this will work from dos at boot rather than a cmd window when windows is running for the reasons I stated earlier.
Hello ye all,
Dos-scanners are not obsolete, a well know (be aware it is a heuristic scanner also, so watch out for false positives inherent to heuristic scanners) is F-Prot for DOS see: http://www.claymania.com/f-prot.html
Here an unbiased opinion: http://www.uzipaz.com/eng/f-prot.html
Yours sincerely,
