Dose avast!4.x Home surpport Flashget?

When the Flashget is downloading the files, will Avast!4.x Home scan the files at the same time or untill it finished them would have Avast!4.x Home scaned them?

Flashget seems to be a download manager.

Most useful download managers allow you to configure them so that at the end of downloading the downloaded file can be scanned by your resident antivirus scanner.

If Flashget provides you a place to specify the scanning program then it is (typically):

C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe

Maybe… if it is downloaded by an HTTP connection, WebShield could be monitoring it…

Besides what Alan posted, which is fully right of course, the Standard Shield at High sensitivity will scan the file when it is being saved to disk.

As we all know, not only the HTTP but also the FTP is the type of the sources’ connection of the files we want to download. Now the question comes. Is FTP surpported by the AVAST!4.x Home?

That would depend on how you download it, if using a download manager with the setting to scan a file when the download is complete and you have entered the path previously given. Then Yes it would be scanned, as would it with standard shield set to High as also previously mentioned

If you use your browser or an ftp program then No web shield wouldn’t scan it, as it isn’t using the http protocol. It would be scanned with standard shield set to High as also previously mentioned (newly created or modified files depending on sensitivity settings are scanned).

OK.
I GOT IT.
Web monitor is only for the HTTP.
What’s more, Can we say it safely surf on line using the Avast!4.x Home?

By the Standard Shield at High sensitivity will scan the file when it is being saved to disk, or using ashQuick.exe after the download manager finishes its job.

Yes… but you need a firewall and an antispyware also… layered defense is the key of security 8)

As you said, avast!4.x Home is just an antivirus software, not an antispyware, is that true?

Yes and no… I mean, a lot of spyware and trojan are detected by avast.
But it is not a native antispyware (with all antispyware functions). You need: a-squared, Free AVG Antispyware, SUPERantispyware or Spyware Terminator.

Thanks a lot.
I have installed the spyware terminator.
I like it because it can monitor many things about changing system configure.
