Good day.
For several days I am trying to install avast free version with no chance. I finished initial installation file and got it ran, then 2nd installation step never finish after hours, network is working fine, windows defender is off.
If there is a chance to download whole package then start installation will be great, if not please help me to resolve installation issue.

Is previous used AV removed according to that vendors instructions / removal tool ?

I don’t know if the failed installation is shown on your system, programs and features, etc. If it is then you should uninstall that before installing the full off-line installation file.
I suspect that the user is only using Defender and said it is off - depending on OS Defender is an integral part of the OS. But we don’t know what OS the user is running.
It is fresh installation.
OS is windows 10.

Obviously for windows 10 then Defender is integrated, so switching it off is the only option.
Bob is seeking the version and build number of win10 as there have been issues if you are using the insider or fast track updated for win10. That has been causing havoc for 3rd party AV installations.
If you never had another AV (other than Defender) you have no other things to do.

AAAAARGH! I’m RPG geek, not a computer nerd (though I wish I was)…
My licence is getting old and I tried to install free antivirus.
Well, it starts installing, but after one second it says that error happened while installing, and I can just push “Finish” button or see the log.
I tried this many time, strict online link and link it gives me when it tells the licence is getting old.
Please help a gal who does not understand computers…

Now it thinks longer, but still gives me the same answer… Seems I have to try another antivirus… I just do not know which one, I’ve always used Avast.
What is the exact error message ??? A screenshot would be helpful.
Unless you totally remove Avast, you’ll have problems installing another AV. I’m sure it would be easier to solve your problem that anything else.
Well, my computer speaks Finnish, so I guess screen shot is not a much help 
I completely removed Avast now and try another AV 'till next update of Avast shows up so I can try to load it.
It’s weird to use another one though I’ve always used Avast and trust it better (ö_ö)
