i am so confused, what do i do to get it to show??

Did you restarted your PC after installing the program?
If after the restart you still don’t see the icon do the following:
Go here: program options>appearance and see if the option for showing avast! icon in the system tray is enabled, if not enable it :wink:

unfortunately i already tried that and it does not work

OK. Then can you go to avast! installation folder ( the default folder is C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4) and run the file ashDisp.exe .

If this doesn’t help try to repair avast! installation - add/remove programs->avast! antivirus->Repair ( you’ll need internet connection to do this)

                               i just joined the forum and i also could not get the 2 balls in the tray, anyhow i followed your advice ash disp .exe and now everythinge ok, thanks.
