Downloading over slow landlines

HI, Been trying to download the initial update for AVG to run a scan on a PC with a slow land line connection- 33.2 K line. AGV does not seem to have the download capability to resume the download if the transfer is interrupted.

Is there any way to solve this problem to get the entire file, the file size is around 57mb which takes around 3 or 4 hours min to load. If there is an interruption it starts over again.

Thanks for any suggestions, perhaps avast can improve the manner in which downloads can be handled by allowing for a resumption of the file instead of starting over again.

Step 1: Take a look around and ask yourself; “Am I lost?” ;D

Step 2: Uninstall AVG

Step 3: Install Avast!

Step 4: If problems remain, come back and we will probably be able to help

I would guess by posting this question on the AVG forum. Though I guess that is a typo ?

I don’t know where you are trying to download from ?
I can give you a link to download the installation file that you could use with a download manager http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_free.exe.

But with a dial-up connection this bad, it would take hours to download, so you really would be better off if you have a friend with broadband that can download it for you or try a public building, library, etc. and try downloading it there and save it to a USB stick.

Welcome to the forum glbltrader.
If you’re in the US, I’d be glad to mail you an avast! installation CD.
I would also recommend that you not make your email address visible unless you like lot’s of Spam.
