Downloads freeze when On-Access Scanner is active.

Dunno what is happening, ever since I had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall windows, avast! (home, 4.7.1001) has been making any downloads I make using an internet browser freeze. They don’t freeze at a specific time but if they are more than 10MB I can usually count on them freezing eventually. Before the format, avast! worked with no problems at all. Any ideas as to what is causing it?

Comp is a P4 3.2Ghz Prescott, with 756MB RAM and a Radeon X700. I currently use Zonealarm (first time I’ve used it) alongside avast! although my downloads still freeze when Zonealarm is off so I don’t believe they’re conflicting or anything.

Difficult to say… but it even seems to be related to browser settings & security… because it will be blocked to start and not just to finish. Isn’t it a connection problem?
If you use a download manager, does this occur?
If you disable WebShield from avast, will it work?

I don’t believe it’s a connection problem, simply because the downloads only tend to freeze if avast! is active (may be a coincidence). I’ve never used a download manager before but I downloaded one and I managed to download 2 somewhat large files without a hitch.

edit: Download froze with Web Shield off…

Free Download Manager, Download Accelerator Plus, FlashGet are some of them.
I use the first one.

Alright… it has just got me even more confused, it’s probably not related to Avast now as I just had another download freeze when the full scanner was off. -_-

And the first one is the one I used to test.

I’ll revive the thread again if I manage to narrow it down again (assuming I still feel it’s avast! related). Thanks for trying to help so far though!
