I have been using Duckduckgo for about a year. Yesterday, I began receiving an Untrusted Connection Warning when trying to access the site. There is no allowance for an exception. The only thing that I know has changed was the Avast database update yesterday. I have not received any other warnings associated with the Duckduckgo website, but I did receive warnings from Avast such as “Avast Web Shield has blocked access to this page because the following certificate is invalid: sni67555.cloudflaressl.com” and other similar warnings for other pages when I was searching the web for an answer to the problem. I did reinstall two DigiCert certificates (“Secure Server CA” and “Global Root CA”) as suggested for a similar problem that was addressed on the duck.co forum. That did not fix it. In the meantime, I also updated my OpenSSL installation to the latest version which I had no reason to believe was the problem. I’m still getting the “Untrusted Connection” warning. Any suggestions?
So you are suggesting to simply turn off https scanning? The FAQ states that this makes the system more vulnerable. I have some questions before I do that.
Although the FAQ states that “HTTPS scanning is not supported in Windows XP…”, what would cause the problem to appear this late.
If https scanning is not actually functioning although it is checked as enabled, I don’t have a problem disabling. What has caused the problem to arise now even though https scanning has been enabled since I began using Avast on this WinXP machine a number of years ago… and will I be actually making myself more vulnerable by disabling it?
