dumb question

First of all I apologize now for asking this, but I need help! I have a worm on my laptop. I have been recommended to Avast. I download Avast 5.0. I can’t open this program to use it!!! My computer says:

           C:\Documents and Setting\Dell\My documents\Download\aswclne(3)exe
                  Application not found

I am not sure how to “clean” this mess when I can’t open files!!!

Please help me before I throw this laptop out the window…lol!!! ;D

Do you have any other antivirus program installed ?
you have to uninstall that before installing avast
it is also recomended that you run a removal tool to clean all leftover from that program or any you have had
you can find one here http://uninstallers.blogspot.com/

you may have a bug that is blocking install, so

Check your computer for Malware with (try this first )

Malwarebytes Antimalware http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
after install click UPDATE and run quick scan, click on REMOVE SELECTED to quarantine anything found

SUPERAntiSpyware http://filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/
Are cookies really spyware and are they dangerous?
http://www.superantispyware.com/supportfaqdisplay.html?faq=26

If anything is found come back and post the scan logs here

I can download all I want but I can’t “run” anything!!! It always says it can’t find it. How do I get these cleaners to run?

have you tried running these in safe mode? If you dont know you can get to safe mode by tapping the F8 key repeatively after powering off/ on your computer.

If that doesnt do anything you may need to use safe mode with networking(get there the same way as safe mode) to get online to download any updates to the above programs that Pondus mentioned.

I agree there are no dumb questions, there are only dumb answers,
