During HouseCall scan, Avast notified me of Win32:Malware-gen

I performed a HouseCall scan yesterday and again today and both times, 49% through the Housecall scan, Avast notified me of two hits of Win32:Malware-gen, located in the C:.…\Temp\HouseCall folder. I believe these might be false positives, but I wonder if any experts out there can offer their advice. Let me know if you need further information. Thank you very much.

These are the files that Avast quarantined in the virus chest:
VS70P4PV.0CR
VS70PRPV.0CV

You shouldn’t have HouseCall installed on the same system as avast, never run two AV’s unless you want more issues such as this and system locks.

I suggest you uninstall HouseCall then run the removal tool here 35c in the list http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/ to remove remnants, read the info first.

Trend Housecall is a online scan…
however, dont be surprised if your AV detect signatures from the other security program

Thank you both very much for the quick replies. Just to clarify, craigb, I ran the online scan, does your advice still stand? To both of you: I have run the HouseCall online scan numerous times in the past without this result. Although your suggestion that it might compromise my main AV (Avast), I wonder why I am getting these hits now and haven’t in the recent past?

Thanks again!

Well they supply a removal tool so i guess there must be some part of it installed other than just the def files in the temp folder, i would run the tool just to be sure.
