Easiest upgrade path going from old ports to new?

I’ve searched all around the installation instructions and on the forum but can find nothing related to how to go about upgrading ADNM from the old port version to the latest.

Our server is currently sat at the start of the upgrade asking if I want to change the port numbers. I’m thinking if I do then I’m going to have to go round every machine in the company manually updating the ini files to reference the new ports, and if I don’t then I’m going to have to do it eventually when I want to install a new client, right?

All of the machines in the company are running the latest net client as from the 8th of July, but looking at my own machine’s ini they’re still all referencing the old port (obviously).

So is there an easy way to roll out this new port configuration across the network without having to do each ini file manually?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

What I did was: upgrade the ADNM on the server, and let it use the ‘new’ ports.

The only thing you have to do ‘after’ this (and a reboot…) is, make a new installation package for the clients, and let it install on ‘every’ client… That way the clients all will use the ‘new’ versions, and also the new ports.

Seems to work fine…

Yeah, this is a hard question. I was hoping that no one else has an ADNM installation with the old ports anymore…

The most straightforward method (from my point of view) would be to reinstall the clients (I mean the managed avasts on the workstations) but I’m not sure how big your network is…

Thanks

It’s about 40 machines in all. I’m just about to try the method suggested above and hope that the net client installer handles it itself… ???

Saying that though, I did a fresh install of ADNM yesterday after removing the old beta completely (database included) and it’s actually showing up some clients in the “with agent” list. Not really sure how that’s working!

Just to let anyone know that’s still to do this, the above solution worked flawlessly. I just made an install package that uses the new ports, set a task to roll it out to every machine and then ran it.

Looking in the avast4.ini on my own machine before and after running the task confirms that the port number has been updated.
