One machine is working just fine. The second, starting yesterday, is having trouble receiving emails. It just hangs.
But if I turn off Avast’s Mail Shield, then no problem.
But here’s the deal: this problem doesn’t occur on the second machine. Same POP3 server, same account, same version of Avast and Thunderbird, all set up exactly the same (password, security setting, etc., etc.).
The problem started happening yesterday, there was no change to the system.
ALSO, I set Mail Shield to remain off for 10 minutes and wandered off to do something. Normally the computer logs the user off after 10 minutes. But this time I came back to find:
AvastSvc.exe - Application Error "The instruction at “0x7c910cce” referenced memory at “0x00000000”. The memory could not be “read.” [OK] [CANCEL]
Please enable debug logging in avast Settings/Maintenance, simulate the problem and then send me the log file C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log\Mail.log by mail. Send me also files named unp*.mdmp from that folder if there are any.
SSL/TLS accounts do not send/receive emails since Avast update. 8.0.1483
I had to turn off scan SSL emails.
…Others recommend to disable SSL in email client. (?)
…Somebody wrote to delete accounts from Avast SSL Settings, and they will be recreated automatically - they were not
Hello,
the accounts in your mail client should be set as required by your mail provider. You can check with the Mail shield disabled if it works. If it then does not work with the Mail shield enabled, post the error messages and some details.
