Email Scanning

Just rechecked my in and out Thunderbird and Avast is not mentioned anywhere. I don’t think it is working.
I even checked my firewall - nothing.

Sorry to ask, but are you sure that you know how to view the full mail header in TB…?

Is there a special way of viewing my Inbox mails ?
I just look at my Inbox and click the incoming mail to fully expand it, then look for the Avast marker.

@Asyn
OK now for OUTGOING emails but not for INCOMING emails.

If I send an email to my Outlook.com account now, it has the Avast marker at the bottom - OK for send from Thunderbird.

If I REPLY to this back to Thunderbird, the Avast marker is at the bottom, after the sent copy.

If I send a new email from Outlook.com to Thunderbird, the incoming email in the Thunderbird Inbox has NO Avast marker !

It is the INCOMING emails I need Avast to check NOT the OUTGOING.

As said, I can only help you with TB - I neither use Outlook nor Gmail.

Thank you so much Asyn for that link to fully view the header, but still none of my incoming messages have an Avast marker shown,
except the test one I sent from Thunderbird to Outlook.com and replied to it back.

You’re welcome. Well, it works for me with TB, maybe other helpers will chime in.

Hi, the second checkbox is about the fact that we scan the incoming mail (Outlook/Thunderbird, basically any POP3 or IMAP traffic), not about inserting signature. It’s really not needed as if it’s infected we block it. So consider all incoming as clean.

Brilliant Martin and thanks. That appears to answer my problem precisely.
Do we get a notification if an email is blocked ?

Sure.

See reply #15.

In case you are still curious @wittmann44

Mail detection will look like this >> https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=224455.0

I’m using Avast Free and Outlook for years without problems. However, since new Avast version 19.1.2360, sending and receiving mail in Outlook 2016 gets stuck when scanning my Spam mail box (IMAP). This has to do with Avast, because disabling the mail shield ‘solves’ it. (enabling sending and receiving mail).
I sent in a bug report, but no definite solution yet.
