My email accounts all work I am just not sure they are all being scanned.
Due to having some email accounts which are very public and subject to a lot of spam
and malware it is important to me that these accounts are scanned by Avast.
The settings for the SSL/TSL accounts are not clear to me, maybe I am being fuzzy brained.
The instructions need some examples.
These are the settings usually set in Windows Mail and PopPeeper :
IMAP 993 SSL 465 TLS do I leave this at 993 and 465 w/o SSL/TLS or set to 143 and 25?
POP3 995 SSL 587 TLS do I leave this at 995 and 587 w/o SSL/TLS or set to 110 and 25?
I have some using 25, 110 and 143 also.
What do you set these at to be sure they are scanned? Do you leave the Ports set
as they are and turn SSL and TLS off or set them to the normal port which are used
without SSL/TLS such as 143 and 25 and 110 and 25 for the above?
In Settings - Troubleshooting - Redirect Settings - what should be set here.
Please use examples and not just turn this on and that off.
You set the ports to standard ports. (143, 25 for IMAP, 110, 25 for POP3)
The redirect settings don’t have anything to do with email.
In MailShield, go to settings, set to “scan incomming, scan outgoing” and then under “Behaviour” set “Insert clean note” (All the wordings may differ, I don’t know the exact wording right now, but they are very similar).
When you then send a mail, you should see a “Outgoing Mail clean” - part at the end of your mail, as well as an “Incoming mail clean”.
Look up the settings in Email-Shield “accounts”. That are the settings, that avast uses. The only ones it knows. If they are set to ssl / tls, than it uses secure connections.
